Convert PDF to Word online for free
This free PDF to Word converter reads the text in your PDF and creates an editable Word (.docx) document from it. It keeps your headings, paragraphs, lists and page breaks, so you can correct, reuse or reformat the text in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice. It runs in your browser, so your PDF is never uploaded to our servers. There is no signup, no email and nothing to install.
It works best for text-based PDFs such as letters, reports, articles, notes, contracts and forms that were created on a computer. Images, logos and charts are not copied into the Word file, and the layout can differ from the PDF.

| Paragraphs | Rebuilt from the line spacing of the PDF |
| Bullet and numbered lists | Kept as typed characters, not Word lists |
| Tables and columns | Text lined up with tab stops, not Word table cells |
| Page size and page breaks | Kept |
| Images, logos, charts and shapes | Not included |
| Fonts, colours, and bold or italic words inside a paragraph | Not kept; the document uses Calibri |

Which PDFs convert well
- Text-based PDFs saved or exported from Word, Google Docs or other software give the best result.
- Letters, reports, articles, notes and contracts with normal paragraphs convert cleanly.
- PDFs with heavy design, such as brochures, posters or multi-column magazines, will need more editing.
- Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages, and this tool does not read text from pictures. If you have the original digital file, use that instead.
- Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before you convert them.
Tips for a better result
- Keep each file under 25 MB. If a PDF is larger, split it first with our PDF splitter.
- Always read through the Word file. Check headings, line breaks, lists and numbers before you share or print it.
- If you need the tables as spreadsheet data, use our PDF to Excel converter instead.
- If you need the pictures from a PDF, use our PDF to JPG converter.
- Keep your original PDF as a reference while you edit.

Frequently asked questions
Is this PDF to Word converter free?
Yes. You can convert PDFs without paying, creating an account or giving an email address.
Is my PDF uploaded to your servers?
No. Your file is processed in your browser and is not uploaded to our servers, so we never see its contents. Read our Privacy Policy for details.
What is the maximum file size?
Each PDF can be up to 25 MB.
Which format do I get?
You get a Word document in .docx format, which opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice Writer.
Will the Word file look exactly like my PDF?
Not always. The converter rebuilds the text, headings, paragraphs and page breaks, but it does not copy the exact fonts, colours or design, so the layout can differ. Review the file and make small corrections if needed.
Are images and tables kept?
Images, logos, charts and shapes are not included. Tables are converted into text lined up with tab stops, not into Word table cells.
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
No. A scanned PDF is a picture of text, and this converter reads only text stored in the PDF, so the result would be empty. A PDF created directly from a document gives the best result.
Why does my Word file look different from the PDF?
A PDF stores text at fixed positions on each page, while Word arranges text in flowing paragraphs. Complex layouts, columns, text boxes and designed pages cannot be matched exactly, so they need small edits in Word.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. The tool works in a modern mobile browser as well as on a computer.
